Whoever said birthdays are all about cakes and party hats. Charles Schulz’s birthday at Hippocampus was celebrated in grand stlye with kids coming in for a Cartooning Workshop. In a (pea)nutshell, the to-be Schulz’s made a Cartoon strip on Snoopy and in the process learnt about the nuances of cartooning.
If creating Snoopy took centre stage for the kids, the pronunciation of the word ‘Schulz’ became a herculean task for all (psst psst.. including the mentor). Some claimed the surname is irrelelvent as long as Snoopy’s nose was drawn with extravagant flair and took the effort of qouting Shakespeare to prove the same. This triggered the curious little ones who took it up to get his name right and the nose as well.
What more can Charles Schulz ask for, for his name (pronounced correctly) will remain etched in the minds of another generation for a long time to come.
All in all A Very Happy Birthday Mr. Schulz- the man who gave us Peanuts but no Protein.
On this merry note, this is ‘Hoo’ Signing off! 😀
