SUMMER MEDLEY – 1

Description: An exciting, 10-day program that combines movement, art, and F.U.N. This medley brings together ‘My Room’ – art’n’craft knickknacks for your room with Sarayu and ‘Krida Time’ – yoga games with Prabha.

About the Mentors:
Sarayu Perumal is a self –taught artist. She has worked for the Times of India (NIE) as an art consultant and conducted art, craft & story telling activities for children in Bangalore.
Prabha Krishnan is a Yoga instructor and therapist who has conducted sessions in the US. Currently working at the Atmayaan wellness Group for Yoga, Ayurveda and Naturopathy, she is passionate about the Krida sessions that combine games, stories and more to stretch flexibility and the mind.

Description: An exciting, 10-day program that combines movement, art, and F.U.N. This medley brings together ‘A Remix’ – musical instruments made from recycled materials with Kusum, art’n’craft knickknacks also made by recycling objects with Sarayu, and, ‘Monkeynastix’ – a fun, energy-packed movement session with Bremah.

About the Mentors:
Kusum Punjabi A writer by virtue and an artist at heart, she has been crafting her imagination as a filmmaker and now as an artisan! She is a beads jewelry creator with her own establishment called ‘ninekettles’ and an enthusiast at craft with kids.
Sarayu Perumal is a self –taught artist. She has worked for the Times of India (NIE) as an art consultant and conducted art, craft & story telling activities for children in Bangalore.
Bremah Ramasami trained in and conducted Monkeynastix programs at Botswana, S Africa. She has brought this pioneering movement program to India, imparting this fun, invigourating form to children at various schools and institutions at Bangalore.

About the Mentors:
Clay Station is an initiative to promote pottery as a hobby in India. They offer recreational options to learn and practice clay modeling and pottery for all age groups through their workshops and training programs. Participants in the program are encouraged to use Clay Station’s studio facility to further enhance their skills.

Butterfly Fields, founded by IIT / IIM Graduates in 2005, is into improving the Quality of Learning by making it ‘Easy, Enriching and Enjoyable’. Working closely with students by conducting workshops, they conduct hands-on activities that include children building models and experimenting with them, to explore and appreciate the underlying scientific concepts.
AROUND THE WORLD WITH ART’N’CRAFT

About the Mentor:
Mookambika has taught art at Sri Sri Sri Ravishankar School & East West School. She currently teaches drawing for children of different age groups. A self-taught artist who has dabbled in many mediums, she loves working with her hands, finding happiness in seeing the smiles to children’s faces when they see their own finished handiwork.

The idea behind our science camp is to create a spirit of discovery with kids… to encourage them to experiment and try different solutions, to ask scientific questions and think of ways to test and answer such questions, to learn how to explore and have fun with science… and above all find in themselves the spirit of free thinking and discovery.

About the Mentors:
Sukanya Sinha is a scientist with deep interest in science education. She has a Ph.D. in Physics from University of Maryland, USA. She is currently Visiting Professor at ISI, Bangalore.
Utpal Chattopadhyay is a Ph.D. in Physics from State University of New York at Stony Brook, USA. He is currently director of Anweshaa that focuses on management and organisation development along with and science and technology education.
Dr. Shonali Chinnaiah graduated from Cornell University with a doctorate in Marine Ecology. She is now looking to create an environment where children can explore science in a fun way.
Together they host the Hippocampus Science Club.
SCRABBLE SCRAMBLE

KNOCK ON WOOD

Description: Pick up the basics of woodworking – the wood, the tools and the steps involved in creating something out of wood. Then, Hammer, Drill, Saw, File and Sand paper to make a Penstand and Birdhouse all by yourself… from scratch!

About the Mentor:
Namrata mathur is an alumnus of IIT- Madras who started carpentry as a hobby. Today, totally hooked by the lure of woodworking, she spends time spreading this love by conducting carpentry workshops with children in schools and elsewhere.

VENTURE ADVENTURE

Description: 4 day trips and one overnighter. Hit the trail every day – Go Rafting and enjoy water games on Rafting day. Try Cross Country Cycling on Cycling Day. Parasailing and Kite flying will make you take to the skies on Aero Sports Day. Get back to earth with Cave exploration and Rope activities on Terrestrial Adventure Day. Pack in all your skills and confidence and set out for an overnight camp on the last 2 days…

About the Mentors:
Wind Chasers is an adventure and outdoors organization that works with children. Based in Bangalore, they have instructors who come with diverse backgrounds but are united in their love for nature and adventure.
Mehar is a telecom engineer by profession who believes that the outdoors are her calling. The co-ordinator for the company’s Outdoor Educational Excursion and Study Tour Unit for institutions, she has widely backpacked across India.
Maria is a huge wildlife enthusiast and nature lover who believes that nothing is impossible. A part of the Outdoor Educational Excursion team, she has traveled with children of all ages around India and Overseas.

Altius, an offshoot of Aerosports Altius, an offshoot of Aerosports was started in early 2010.Altius intends to promote model aviation in Bangalore. Model Aviation has been a hobby & sport for a long time; Altius intends to use it as an educational tool in addition to being a sport & hobby. Description: The program will be held at three different locations over 5 days focusing on developing skills that will help children safely explore their natural environs. The kids will spend time in a farm that is bordered on one side by a lake with wading birds, fish and a myriad of other aquatic life waiting to be discovered. They will learn how to identify birds from their plumage, flight and shape and build some animal tracking skills while they trek through the forest

Calls out to all those kids who belong to the generation where the difference between junk and healthy food is very discreet! The dilemma of explaining to your mum on how burgers aren’t that bad if you have some nice pasta salad [with some cheese ;)] the next day, is understood. It is all about striking between Angels n Demons!
We promise to teach you one junk and one healthy food and you promise us to learn and enjoy them unbiased!
About Mentor:
Sumukhi did her graduation in Nutrition and Dietetics. To her, cooking started as an obligation, became a hobby and now a career option! Be it story-telling, quiz or cooking she brings fun into whatever she does!
