Author of the best-selling Percy Jackson series, Rick Riordan is back! This time with the much-awaited third part of the Kane Chronicles. In ‘The Serpent’s Shadow’ the chaos snake Apophis has returned and he is threatening to plunge the world into an endless sea of discord. It is upto the siblings Sadie and Carter Kane to single-handedly restore order to the world. Okay, they do get some help from the young initiates of the Brooklyn House but the gods and magicians being on the brink of civil war themselves are hardly of much help. A thread of romance weaves the story together. Sadie is stuck between Anubis and Walt in a hopeless love triangle while strong and fiery Zia barely casts a backward glance at Carter. Together, they all put the various pieces of a puzzle together, rope in the help of sun god Ra and figure out a way to destroy the all powerful Apophis. I loved how the concepts of chaos and order are seen as complementary- one cannot exist without the other and how gods are fallible, almost-human creatures.
